Sweet Baby ... An Oh So Pretty C.A.S.E. from Pinterest.

I saw a card on Pinterest (from Heather Summers) that used this beautiful colour combo, Crumb Cake, Vanilla and Pink Pirouette. Love It!!  The beautiful banner and the soft colours just made me want to re-create it.

I switched it up a little bit and changed the Crumb Cake to Soft Suede (I just feel I have used a lot of Crumb lately).

Here is what I have used to make this card...

Ink: Soft Suede and Pink Pirouette
Card Stock: Soft Suede and Very Vanilla
Accessories: Twine (retired), Pearls, Banner Punch (SAB)
Stamp Sets: Baby, We've Grown, Chevron Background, Petal Parade and Banner Blast (SAB)

I used an old piece of Pink Pirouette DSP for a liner on my envelope to finish off the look.

To the right is a close up of the absolutely adorable baby shoes in the set "Baby, We've Grown."   This set is in the Occasions Catalogue right now!  Check it out ...

Box Cards ... They are all the rage!

Have you seen the Box Card!?  If not I would be shocked.  These great, fun and cute cards are all over Pinterest and Crafting blogs right now.   The ideas for these are endless and they fold up and fit in a envelope!  Love it!

I saw a similar card to this on Pinterest and when one of my friends and clients had her baby last month I could not resist Casing it!   Zoo Babies is one of my favourite stamp sets and a perfect fit for this card!
I used the I am Me DSP for it's fun, bright colours.
To finish off the card you add a panel on the back for your sentiments and such.   Below is a link to a tutorial and video I found from Angie at Chic n' Scratch!   These are so fun, I even made another for an upcoming club!

cardinabox_b  Check it out and then have fun creating!

Baby's Cards - You always need one more!

My kids are now 5 and 8 and I am done having babies. Most of my friends are done having babies and my Husband and I are the youngest in our families, therefore, no more nieces or nephews for us!  I think!!

It seems however I am always in need of just one more baby card!  A family friend of mine just had a little boy (in fact I used to babysit her when she was 3!  I am feeling a little old!) and another Stampin' Friend is due in November.  So as I said there is always need for another baby card.

When I surf Pinterest I pin a lot of baby cards that catch my eye, I then proceed to forget about them and when I need a baby card I am rushing to get one made.

Not this time!   I saw a Digital Studio card on Pinterest with this little Fisher Price toy on it and thought I could create that with my Word Window punch!   I literally shut my computer, walked into my craft room and went to work!  I love it when that happens.  And I really love how this turned out!

Let me know what you think.

I used the standard Primary Colours for this card, Real Red, Pacific Blue, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie.  I did Clear Emboss the punched pieces to make them look more plastic and I really like how the effect worked.   The Paper I used for the toy is last years Brights Pack DSP.

The Sentiment at the bottom is a combination of about 5 or 6 sets.   I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to make it look like word art.  This will be for a boy but it could have just as easily been made for a little girl.

Well I guess it is time to get back to Pinterest.  I need more ideas like this!

Thanks for looking!

Challenge -- Paper Players, Buttons and Bows

I have not done a challenge in a while and I love doing them so I sat down today and wow I was challenged.  This should have been simple, babies, bows, buttons, I mean come on!!  But it took me a couple of hours just to think of something!!  I really like how it turned out.  I went for a different shape and surprised myself when I ended up with something very different!  I hope you like it.

I have made a scallop circle, easel card before but I think added this framelit to the front really changed the shape and look of the card.  I used Pool Party for the base and some Bright Blossoms DSP.  The Stamp set I used was Button Buddies.  It is such a fun set and this little rattle is precious.  I added the stamps in Tempting Turquoise Ink and the buttons are the same colour.  The Ribbon and Twine are Pool Party.

It took me a while to bring my vision to life but I love how it turned out!
Let me know what you think!

Welcome Baby Rhett!

It's A Boy!! My Upline Amber Chapman had a little baby boy this week.  Rhett Trevor Chapman!  He is totally adorable and such a sweet angel.  It took me a while to figure out what kind of card I wanted to make and in the end it was so detailed I had to make it a 6x6!!  I really do not know why Noah's Ark is associated with babies but it is and it is really fun and cute so here is my take on Noah's Ark using the Fox and Friends (retired) stamp set.   Welcome Rhett!

Oh where do I begin?  I used Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise Card Stock with a Whisper White background.  I used the Core'dinations Card Stock in Early Espresso for the Ark and embossed it with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder. Plus Crumb Cake for the interior. Of course I fussy cut all of the animals and used the cupcake punch for the clouds.

For the Interior of the card I used MDS2 to create the tag and then cut it out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits.

Below is a Hybrid Card.  I created the kids and sentiment on MDS2 and then printed it on Whisper White Card Stock.  I created the remainder of the card with Marina Mist and Bashful Blue Card Stock and DSP and scored the edges of the white layer for texture.

I even got to colour a little using my pencil crayons and blender pens!! I love to colour.

Congrats to the Chapman Family,  Rhett is adorable and I am so excited for all of you.

Have a great day

Holiday Monday - Baby Post

Just over 5 weeks ago a friend of ours had a little baby boy.   I love making baby cards because I do not get the opportunity very often any more and because it is always a challenge to make a super cute and special card!   With this card I combined a couple card types I had been wanting to try. I used ideas from a number of cards I have seen on Splitcoast Stampers web gallery.  This is  a dresser/step card.  I have seen a few of these around and thought this was the perfect time to try it out.  Let me know what you think!

I used Chocolate Chip Card Stock and added touches in Baja Breeze and Whisper White.  The monkey is Soft Suede and the Giraffe is More Mustard. I made the card using the Splitcoast Stampers Tutorial.  The bib, baby blanket and lamp are all embossed using the square lattice embossing folder.  I punched out the base of the dresser with the Decorative Label  Punch.
I used the computer to print out the photo and the birth information then punched them out for the embellishments.  The lamp base is from a retired tab punch (I used the edges to create the curved shape).  The baby bottle is the jewellery tag punch.

Overall I was really pleased with the card and the new parents loved it too and that is what really counts.

I am off to the mountains for a week and if I get some time I will post some pictures of our adventures in the Rockies.  Have a great Holiday Monday everyone.

Thanks for looking!

Baby on the Way ... Congrats

Ok this seems to be the summer of babies.  I have 4 friends who have had or will be having babies.  One of these friends happens to be my Upline Amber!  I am so excited for her.  This her third baby and her second boy!   I have seen a few of these baby bump cards and always wanted to try one (story of my life LOL).   I hand-drew a template on scrap paper and then traced it onto the new Midnight Muse .. I love that colour!

I ran the Midnight Muse through the Big Shot using the Argyle Embossing Folder.  The baby heart is covered in crystal effects and the Marina Mist layer is spritzed using the Colour Spritzing tool and the Midnight Muse Marker.  A little Marina Mist ribbon finishes off the look!

Some of the products used are listed below....

Baby - Baby - Baby

So the "secret" project I mentioned a few weeks ago is over and now I can share it with the world!  My good friend and Neighbour had a baby shower for a very good friend.  After having 3 boys she finally had a girl and we were excited to go crazy with the pink!  I love making baby items but rarely get the chance so I took the chance to make some super fun and sweet items.

Above is the banner I made for the shower. I know you have seen the onesie cards that people have been making for awhile so I just adjusted it to make a banner.  Colors used were Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Pretty In Pink, Melon Mambo and Rich Razzelberry.  I used some baby button brads (not Stampin Up oops) and my cricut to make the letters.

Left is the Thank You Party Treats we made for the guests.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the milk carton die!

The cupcake picks are an idea I saw on a card from Splitcoast Stampers I love the little bundles.

I used pretty in pink and put the folder through the swiss dots embossing folder and used the Large Oval punch.  I used the much missed retired blush blossom paper for the face.

This is the card and booties I made for the Mommy (Colleen).  I have wanted to try my hand at the baby booties I see all over splitcoast but I have to say, I found them difficult!   For the card I used the retired stocking punch (I will miss that one too).

Below is my neighbour Charity with the little bundle of Joy.  I did not get a picture of Mommy Colleen with her little one, everyone else was too busy holding her!
Thanks for Looking.

Memory Lane

I have been working on some new projects but they are "top secret" right now (they are a surprise for someone) so I have nothing new to post :(  However, I wanted to share some of my favourite cards from the past!  Most of the stamp sets are retired but I still love them.            Enjoy!

This card is cased from Heather Summers.  I love the colors and the little cookie makes it fun for kids of all ages.  I gave this to my friends daughter and it was a real hit!  Of course she pulled it apart to get the cookie (that will teach me to make a little door on the back).

This is a card I made for my Bird Loving daughter on her 6th birthday  (this year she got a parrot card).   I love the bryer and sponging look although I have yet to perfect it I really like how it turned out!
Speaking of the brayer and sponging technique, below is the first card I made using these.  I cased it from Michlle Zindorf (I love her cards). It turned out really well I think.  I gave it to my nephew for his birthday last year.

This last picture is of two baby cards I made when my cousin had twins (a boy and a girl). I do not get to make baby cards very often anymore and I love to make them.  When I heard she was having one of each sex I thought it would be fun to make two cards!  Onesie and bib cards are always super cute!

Well thanks for walking down memory lane with me.  Hope you enjoyed it!
