MDS2 .. Have you tried this yet??

I have been having so much fun with my MDS2!   There are great new features and so much content it is hard to keep up!!   I love being able to sit down and finish up a scrapbook page or two in less than an hour!  With the Designer Templates you can finish a page in minutes!!  To check out the products available and the FREE MDS Trial Offer click here!

Sorry I cannot seem to get my double layout to line up on my site but you get the idea! There are so many wonderful and fun elements to use in MDS. Embellishments such as stitching, Punches like the Flag Punch and Stamps like the Oh Splat! Stamp Brush Set. You also have access to amazing DSP! There are so many different styles there are sure to be many to suit you style.

Every photo you input can be edited on site! You can add matting, shadow, brighten or flip. There are also pre-made layouts or you can create your own. If you really don't know where you start you can use a designer template and have it add in the photos for you!!

Embellishments are key to any page.  There are so many great options from buttons, ribbon, stitching, and brads.

Titles are also important and with MDS you have the option to use the Text feature, Alphabet Stamp Brush Sets and even Alphabet Punches you can fill with DSP!
Journaling is so easy with MDS.  There are great tag and label punches you can fill with text using the Text feature.  The choice of fonts is endless and you can change them to any colour under the sun.    If you are like me and you hate your own hand writing then this is the perfect solution.

Make a little Girls Dream Come True!!

A friend posted on Facebook today that in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada there is a 10 year girl named Miranda who is very sick.   Her one wish is to receive a rainbow from everyone in the world!!  A big wish for a brave little girl.  I went to work to create a rainbow in my own crafty way.

My little girls also drew rainbows using markers and crayons and I even had my husband draw one!!

If you would like to help make this little girl's dream come true please feel free to create your own rainbow and mail it to

Twisted Greeting Card

The other day I saw this great You Tube Video by Kelly Gettelfinger showing a very simple different card design she called a "Twisted Greeting Card."  It is a wonderful design for gift giving as it has built in pockets for gift cards!  Check out the Video here and my take on it below...

So I decided to use up some of my retired products to create a Twisted Greeting Card.  I have used some Raspberry Tart DSP and a retired stamp set called "Three Little Words."  The base is using Lucky Limeade.

Inside the card I put a gift card and a little sentiment "it's your day" also retired.

I may have to make a Christmas Card form this!

Hope you like it.

Wedded Bliss and a Little Paradise!

This weekend we are in Vernon celebrating a wonderful couple, Shannon and Marco.   Shannon is a close friend of the family and my oldest daughter got to be the flower girl in her wedding!  We have been very excited to share this day with them and in preparation I created a card for their wedding that I hope Shannon will love!   Her favourite flower is the Bird of Paradise and she has based her wedding colours on this flower.  So I searched the web for a punch art flower that would look great on her card!  I found one flower made by a wonderful crafty lady in Oahu Hawaii and I just had to CASE it.   Check out the original blog by Brenda at Sweet as a Gumdrop .

If you go to Brenda's Blog you will see how she made the flowers using the Bird Builder Punch. I added the leaves at the bottom using the Blossom Builder Punch.

The Colours are Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Concord Crush (retired).  I used the Framed Tulip Embossing Folder around the edge, added some pearls for accents and a stamp from an old retired stamp set called "Happily Ever After"

I love how this turned out and I hope Shannon and Marco love it just as much.

Halloween Treat/Sucker Holder

We had our first Club meeting last night and it was a great time with such a fun group of ladies.   We made this great little Halloween Treats.

Here is a quick HOW TO:

Chocolate Chip Card Stock cut to 2 1/4" x 2" and 3/4" x 5/8".
and More Mustard cut to  6 x 2 1/4, Score at 1/2 on the long side.

Break fibres of paper by running it along the edge of a table or counter.  You need to make the paper more pliable so it will wrap around the stem of the sucker.

Using a strong adhesive wrap the Chocolate Chip Card Stock around the stem.  I used the small piece inside the hole at the end of the sucker.  I cut it half way down in strips to make it look worn.

Distress the More Mustard piece by sponging the edges in Soft Suede and using the spritzer to add some splatter also in Suede!

Cut the Mustard piece up to the score line in strips (try not to be perfect.  It looks better if the strips are in different widths).  Using a very strong adhesive wrap the uncut 1/2" scored section around the base of the sucker.  You can wrap some linen thread around the base  and decorate as you see fit!  I used the fun Owl Builder Punch from Stampin Up and the great new Champaign Glimmer Paper in the Mini.

To the right you can see a great way to use a       2-D version on a scrapbook page!  This would look good on a card also.

Christmas Ribbon Card

A week ago I watched a video from Dawn Olchefske on how to create a wonderful Christmas card using the new Holiday Collection Framelits and Ribbon.   If you are anything like me you have loads of extra ribbon and this is a great card for using up ribbon.  I made my own version of course but here is Dawn's Video.   My card is at the bottom of this post.

Great Idea right!  I really do love the Framelits from the current Holiday Mini!

I used Chocolate Chip, Real Red and Crumb Cake Card Stock.  Using Gumball Green, White Real Red and Chocolate Chip Ribbon for the Framelits Cut-outs and my Petite Pairs Stamp Set for the Merry Christmas.  I also used my Chocolate Chip Marker for the "stitched" look around the card.

Hope you like my take on the card and I hope it helps you get into the Christmas Crafting Spirit!

You're A Star -- Popcorn Card

We love Popcorn in our house and when I  was surfing the web awhile back and saw a card using the Steam Framelit from the Holiday  Collection Framelits to make popcorn!!

Holiday Collection Framelits Dies See the one in the middle!  it is meant for the steam from the mug but on it's own looks like a small piece of popcorn. I have no idea who thought this one up but it is so cute!

I created the popcorn box with a Real Red base and strips of Whisper White paper.  I then added a movie strip using Basic Black Card Stock and punching the edges with the retired Spiral Edge Punch and added some white squares as the film cells.

The popcorn itself is, as I said, from the Holiday Collection Framelits Die.  I sponged the edges with So Saffron and made it look like popcorn!.

I think this is a great card for any movie fan.  Put a Theatre Gift Card inside and you have the perfect gift!

Challenge -- The Paper Players #112

It seems I do these Challenges in waves.  Right now I cannot get enough of them so when I saw the great colour challenge from The Paper Players I just had to give it a shot.  I made my first ever Telescope Card!  It is such a fun way to make a card and I really enjoyed creating it.

The Challenge was to use Baja Breeze, Going Grey and Basic Black.   I really like these colours.  So I used as many circle dies and punches as I could get my hands on (including the circle scallop die) and started my telescope card.  Above you see it closed.  I have used the World Treasures stamp set from the Annual Stampin' Up! Catalogue.   I love the peacock from that set.

Sticking with just the three colours from the challenge and of course Whisper White I stamped the flowers and the peacock on to my inner circles.

I am so happy with how it turned out!

Challenge -- Freshly Made Sketches #51

I went in to my stash of retired Stampin' Up products when I saw this weeks sketch challenge from FMS this morning and using some fun Halloween DSP and one of my favourite Halloween Stamp Set I went to work!

The Paper is Creepy Crawly DSP from a few years ago, Dusty Durango (also retired), Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White, and More Mustard.

The Stamp Set is Booglie Eyes, it is retired but there is a current set that is just as cute. I used pencil crayons and blender pens to colour him in. I also used Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment. I also used loads of Circle punches and the retired Spiral Edge Border Punch.

Challenge -- Freshly Made Sketches #50

I was playing with my Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set today and when I saw the sketch on the FMS website I thought it was just what I needed for some inspiration.  I wanted a simple Thank You card that would work for Thanksgiving or anytime of year.  I love the colours in the Orchard Harvest DSP especially the Espresso and Indigo combination.  Check it out ...

Ok so the colours used are all from the Orchard Harvest DSP.  Early Espresso, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Raspberry Ripple and Very Vanilla.  I used the Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set and coordinating Cannery Set Framlits for the Jar's lid and the pears.  Below is the Sketch we had to work from and the link to FMS other great entries and examples.
