Thanksgiving Bird House - Centrepiece

I know what you are thinking .. Thanksgiving is a long way away.  It really is not.  It is only about 7 weeks away here in Canada!  Can you believe it!?

I spent a good part of Friday last week working on this adorable bird house for our Thanksgiving Centrepiece.  Some of the stamping is from ALL NEW stamp sets in this years Holiday Catalogue.

I got the bird house at Michaels Craft Store, it was unpainted so I started with painting it in the brown/orange fall colours that you see here.  Once dry I added the flower garden and roof decorations.  This is where I spent most of my time but I love how it turned out so it was worth it.

The wreath and pumpkins were stamped with the Wondrous Wreath and Fall Fest Stamp sets. I added some punched out birds, embellishments such as the leaves (got to love that bird punch) and button, to finish the look.

I hope you like it.

The flowers were made using a small scallop punch, the retired boho blossom punch and the wonderful all new fringe scissors. I added leaves using the bird builder punch.

For the sunflowers I used the retired Boho blossom punch again and a 1/2" circle punch. I sponged in some colour and used my piercing tool on the center to look like seeds.   "Give Thanks" is from the stamp set "Good Greetings" a hostess set and is framed in gold card stock.

The wreath is from the new "Wondrous Wreath" set but I did cut down the wreath to fit on this bird house. The original is almost double the size.  A little linen thread finished the look.

This was so fun to create.  I cannot wait to share it with my family at Thanksgiving.

Have a wonderful day.

It's a Beautiful Day Today + a Sneak Peek

The sun was out all day today and the weather was amazing!  My kids were outside ALL day!  I love it when that happens.  Of course I was inside most of the day cleaning, but what can you do?  I hear we are getting more rain so I will soak up as much of the sun as I can!

On another note we are less than a week away until the new Catalogue comes in to effect and I am super excited about starting my swaps for Convention and ordering product shares for my clients (I will post these soon on here too).

In my pre-order from the new Catalogue I got this totally funky new product called Simply Pressed Clay!  Yes, that's right, Clay!!  I also got the Buttons and Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Molds!  I have made about 8 buttons and flowers in various colours and finally used one in a project.  Check it out...

I used a simply Whisper White base and added a Mambo Melon layer that was punched with the Scallop Trim Border.  I then added a layer from a New DSP called Gingham Garden!  Cute right?  There is some Organza Ribbon and the left accents are in Pear Pizzazz and punched from the Bird Builder punch.

Ok that really cute blue flower; it is Simply Pressed Clay that I added a couple of drop of Marina Mist re-inker to.   I then put it in the Blossoms Clay Mold and Ta-Da ... A blue flower!

I stamped the Happy Birthday from Bring on the Cake and added some pearls to finish the effect.

I hope you like it.  Let me know what you think!

REMEMBER - This is the LAST WEEK of the current Catalogue so get the Retiring Items while you can! Also the Spring Mini retires on May 31!

Pleasant Poppies - Candle and Card

Well another week is over and here in Alberta we are heading into our holiday Monday! It's Family Day!!  With my head cold and soar throat it may be a Daddy/Daughters day while Mommy rests.  I am very tired of winter. Although we have had a mild winter compared to many other areas in North America and I am thankful for that!  I do miss green grass and pretty flowers.  My favourite way to add flowers into my life is to stamp them!  Flower Embellishments are fun too.  This is what had me pulling out my Peasant Poppies stamp last week.

Using this stamp I created a card similar to one I found on Pinterest and then I just had to try this one on a candle.  If you have never transferred an image to a candle before it is really simple.   You stamp your desired image on tissue paper and colour as you wish.  Be careful not to rip the tissue and remember to use the same colour tissue as the candle you are transferring to.   White is usually the best but vanilla will work too.  Cut the image out of the tissue as close as you can to the stamp. Then place the image on the candle and use your heat gun to melt the tissue paper into the candle.

I used my blender pen and dipped it in to Tangerine Tango Ink.  I kept the colour light for the card but for the candle I added a lot more ink including old olive for the stems.

I used a piece of Vellum for the sentiment and some Tangerine Tango ribbon from the Sale-a-Bration flyer.  The flower is from the Spring Mini and I dyed it Tangerine Tango and added a pearl.  How did I dye the flower you ask?  Well I used a Stampin' Spritzer and filled it with Tangerine Tango re-inker and alcohol. I then sprayed it all over the flower.  It was so simple.  I think these flowers are my new favourite thing!

Have a great week everyone.
