Happy Birthday - World Treasures

Well yesterday my Up Line Amber had a birthday and every year I try to make something special just for her.   I got the World Treasures Stamp Set in my last order because I absolutely love the peacock.  I made a card that I partially cased from the Stampin Up Annual Catalogue.  There was lots of cutting but it was really worth it.   I used the new Ink pads and I love the coverage you get with these!  The colour comes out so bright and even.

I used Daffodil Delight as the base with a layer of Pacific Point and Crumb Cake, which I embossed with the Fancy Fan Folder (I love that one).  Then I used daffodil seam binding for the ribbon and bow and lots of bling.   The Peacock was stamped on scrap white in; Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzelberry, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point.   Each layer is put on with Dimensionals giving this bird lots of depth.

Hope you like it and Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Canada Day Everyone.

Challenge -- Freshly Made Sketches #40

We the end of school is upon us and my kids are enjoying some nice weather (for a change!) while I fire up the BBQ!   I am so glad it is finally Summer (although it is supposed to rain all weekend Yuck!).   I did find a bit of time this afternoon to check out the FMS challenge for this week and I pulled out some summery paper and got to work.

I used the Floral District DSP from SU and the Stamps are from the Itty Bitty Banners set and the Button Buddies set.   I really like that set it is so versatile.

I used so many of SU's new items on this card.

Framelits Labels Collection
Framelites Bitty Banners
Fancy Fan Embossing Folder
Paper used was Baja Breeze, Rich Razzelberry, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White.   I also used some retired White Satin Ribbon and the Brights Designer Buttons and Brads.

MDS - Birthday Cake

My Latest MDS Challenge went out at the end of last month and so far the submissions have been super cute!  See below for the Layout and my Sample.  I really love MDS.  It makes scrapbooking so easy and fun! I can punch out a double layout in under an hour!! Speaking of double layouts;  look out next month when I post my first Double Layout Challenge!   The Rules of the challenge are below.   If you wish to join the challenge just email me and I will send you the Next Layout!  Every month on the 25 the Layout goes out with my sample and your entry needs to be in by the 20th of the following month.

I am having a bit of an obsession with Crumb Cake right now as you can see!

MDS added an alphabet Punch set a while back and I love it.  I used it here for the title.  This allows you to use DSP to fill your letters making them have dimension which is very important in a digital Scrapbook page as it is a 2 Dimensional image.   Using the shadow feature and adding things like stitching and borders makes a flat page pop!

Rules
1. Follow the layout (black and white image attached) but be sure to put your own spin on it
2. Try to use Stampin Up products where possible, but it is understood that other products may be used, for example your circuit.
3. Challenge Deadline is the 20th day of each month. A new challenge will be sent out on the 25th day of each month.
4. Have Fun!
To enter just email me a photo of your page!  Remember every once in awhile I will have draws for prizes such as free shipping on your next order or a Stamp pad of your choice! You get one entry to the draw for every page you submit!

Thanks to all the Ladies who have entered so far! You are very talented and I love seeing what you come up with!

Note - Since Scrapbook pages are personal and show photos of peoples children and family I will not be posting peoples entries on my blog without written consent!

Want a Little Music in your Life?

My daughter has a piano Teacher and a Music Teacher, both of whom she loves to pieces.  So I found this great Piano card on Stampin Connection and just had to recreate it.

I used the Word Window Punch for the Keys.  It is such a simple concept right?!  Love this easy card with lots of impact.

I saw a great tutorial the other day on a Honeycomb Apple card and just had to try it.  I did not have the Newsprint DSP they used but I did have Riding Hood Red DSP so I used that instead.

You simply punch out 20 or so hearts from the Large Heart Punch.  Fold them all in half and glue them too each other.  Be sure to line them all up as best as you can.  Once they are all attached you cut off the bottom to make an apple shape. I used leaves from the Bird Builder Punch as well as the stem from the same punch. For a Video Tutorial check out at UnderstandingBlue Blogspot

Some of the Products used for the above cards:

Teachers ROCK!

Well Summer vacation is just around the corner for our kids and that means we need to let the Teachers know how wonderful they are and how much they will be missed.   My youngest daughter goes to preschool and has the most amazing teachers (Including my Upline Amber:).   I had five teachers to thank so I wanted something fun but not crazy expensive.   I found a bunch of ideas on Pinterest which lead me to the following gift idea.

Ok so here it is.  I got some Reusable Tumblers from Superstore and attached a Flag that says

"Thank you for Quenching my thirst for Knowledge!"

I put that on the straw and then started to fill the cup up with some other cute items, all of which have equally cute sayings!

Hand Cream with a saying "Thank You for giving Megan a "Hand" this Year"
A pen with a post-it-note pad that says; "Take Note!  you're a Great Teacher.  Thanks for a wonderful Year!"
Extra Gum with a wrapper with a note saying "You're EXTRA Special!"
A small candle saying "You LIGHT up my World."

I put it all in a cup and added a little Drawing from my Daughter to her Teacher.

I hope the teachers like it, I know it was fun to make!!

New Loot!!!!

I am ready for my Open House on Sunday and I am excited to showcase some of the new goodies from the SU! 2012-2013 Catalogue!   I got my loot this past week and have been busy playing and creating with some of the items.

SU used to have a stamp set called Cheers to You.  When it retired I was so sad to see it go.  Well this year they have a wonderful new set  called Happy Hour and I love it!

For this card I used Crumb Cake, Pretty In Pink and Primrose Petals.
Another great new stamp is the Star Tree.  It is great for making some quick and simple Christmas Cards.  There is a tonne of potential to add sparkle with jewels or glitter!

For this card I used Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler and stamped the Tree and Sentiment in Early Espresso.

So to the Right is a little preview of the Make and Take from my first ever Stampin Up Open House tomorrow.

I have all the pieces cut and everyone will get to do some Colouring, Punching and of course some Stampin!

Colours used are Whisper White and Pretty in Pink.
Stamp Set was Easy Events.

Challenge -- Freshly Made Sketches - 38

Well I have been busy all week getting ready for my Open House but I did squeeze out some time to do some crafting for myself!  I really liked the sketch from FMS this week so I went to work with it.

I blended the old and new here using old Blushing Bride Ribbon and DSP along with the new Designer Naturals Buttons and Serene Silhouettes Stamp Set.  Colours used were Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and Blushing Bride.

It does not show up on the photos but I added some sparkle to the branches too.
