Happy New Year!

Well I have been taking a bit of a break from my craft room so I am sorry I have not been on here much in the past couple of weeks.   Honestly my craft room becomes Christmas central and is a wasteland for most of December.  I am finally cleaning it up and getting back to business.  

I got a few items from the all new Occasions Catalogue coming out this month and I will be playing with them this week.
Until I get it together enough to have some photos to post for you I wanted to show you some of the new items Stampin' UP products that have come out over the past two weeks and remind you of the Weekly Deals available now.

Valentines Day is approaching (I know you just packed up the Christmas stuff!!) and Stampin' Up has some truly adorable kits available now.



Remember last year, I do, like it was yesterday!  Stampin' UP came out with a great stamping option when they introduced a new line of stamps.  Photo Polymer stamps are less expensive than the original stamps, they are easy to place and stay on those little acrylic blocks!  There is a new set available right now that is completely fun and great for Valentines or Wedding Cards.

Christmas Village of Cuteness -- December News

Before I get to how I made my Christmas Village of Cuteness I just want to mention that at the bottom of this post are the New Weekly Specials, the December (and final) "Best of" Stamp Set and a quick little message you will not want to miss!!

Now on to my Christmas Village of Cuteness ....

 In 2011 I went to the Stampin' UP Convention with my friend and Up line Amber.   For a Make and Take at the convention they had us make a "Village of Cuteness."   Essentially it was 3 pieces of 2x4 cut to look like little houses.  We painted them and decorated them.   That fall I made a Halloween Set and had great intentions of making a Christmas Set.  With the help of Ambers Husband (who cut more houses) I finally made a Christmas Set!

I am so happy with how they turned out!

 Red House - on this house I used a little wooden business card and painted it green, behind it I added some Espresso Card Stock.  The Roof is Early Espresso Core'dinations Paper that has been embossed with the Wood-grain Embossing Folder. The Icicles are made with Crystal Effects and Dazzling Details.  I finished it off with a Frosted Finishes embellishment, antique brad and retired felt holly.

Green House - Here I cut the wooden business card in half and created a double door with some retired brads as door knobs.  The Roof is chipboard covered in retired DSP.  I used some more retired felt (this time the mittens). For the sign on the house

 I used a Framelit from the Chalk Talk set and cut out a piece in Sliver and Red Glimmer paper and one from the wooden business cards.   I got the sentiment from the "Christmas Messages" stamp set.

Brown House - For this house I punched out each scalloped layer of DSP for the roof.  It took a long time but I love the effect.  I added the last two pieces of felt from the retired set and added rhinestones for sparkle. Again the door is a wooden business card (I got them at Lee Valley) and added another antique brad for the door handle and two other brads for the hinges.

  Above you can see the detail of the roof a little better.

 For all of the houses I used acrylic paint and applied it lightly so you could still see the detail of the wood grain.  I also added Mica Flakes (retired) to the bottom of each home.

These were so fun to make.  Let me know what you think of the final product.

Best Part of Halloween? My complete lack of will power!

As if I need a holiday that is all about candy consumption to get me to eat tiny chocolate bars!  I keep that stuff out of my house all year so that I don't eat it (and yet I still manage to get my fill of chocolate) but every Oct. 31 my kids bring home bags of candy to tempt me.   I do my best to tell myself it's for the kids but that does not stop me from sneaking a little chocolate bar or two!

I enjoy eating the candy just as much as I enjoy dressing it up to make cute little gifts for my kids and neighbours.  One of my favorites from this years Holiday Catalogue are these great little muslin bags that I can use to hold a large variety of candy.  These little bags can be decorated to suit your needs and they are adorable!!

Check out my CASE from the Stampin Connection magazine.  I loved it so I had to recreate it, my way.

 I used Halloween Hello Stamp set for this one.  The ink is Black Stazon, Versamark, and Cajun Craze.  I used Heat and Stick powder for the glitter skull and white embossing powder for the sentiment.   I also colours some rhinestones with an orange sharpie and add those.  I'll admit that little hint of black glimmer paper is not SU but I just loved it!

The bag itself was spritzed with black re-inker and alcohol and then stamped with the skull in Black Stazon.
I used a die from the Chaulk Talk Framelits set to create this tag along with the Decorative Lable Punch. ticket duo punch and a couple of circle punches.  Ok that sounds like a lot of work but I promise it was not!

 

 

I also created this little witches broom with a piece of black licorice and some of the Witches Brew DSP.  I have seen these before and wanted to give it a try.  The only draw back to this cute little broom is I do not know a single child and very few adults that like Black licorice! It sure is cute though.

Happy Tuesday everyone, hope you had a wonderful Easter Weekend.  Well Stampin Up has given us one reason to be happy to start the week ..
