SU Video - Star Boxes
Good Morning! It is Monday and normally that would be a bad thing but the snow is melted and the weather is beautiful! Unfortunatly our city has a lot of clean up to do from all of the snow last week, so many trees were damaged is just hurts the heart to look at it! My area was not hit too bad, our trees are small, but some areas are just awful!!
On to brighter news though... STARS
Stampin' Up put out a video on how to make some super cute Star boxes using the Star Framelits in the Annual Catalogue. The "Under the Tree" speciality designer series paper is perfect for these little boxes too. Below the video you can see the ones I made using this tutorial.

I just love these boxes for decorations and with just a couple of minor changes you can turn them into treat boxes too.
Here you can see where I cut a tab down and did not add adhesive so it just tucks in. You can add a little treat to the box, such as jelly beans and the box is not ruined when opened. So Fun!
Let me know how your Star Boxes turned out!

Challenge -- Freshly Made Sketches # 153
It has been a long time since I have done a Challenge! I love doing them and Sketch challenges are my favourite. Freshly Made Sketches had a wonderful and simple sketch this week and since the weather outside is frightful I thought I would get crafting to pass the time.
I have been in the mood to make Christmas cards this week, and with the weather in Calgary you can see why!
I created this Clean and Simple card with some of my favourite items from this years Holiday Catalogue. I hope you like it.
I used the new "All is Calm" Designer Washi Tape to create the tree and punched it out with the new SU Tree Punch. I added some touches of silver and Lost Lagoon with paper, ink and the embellishments. Nothing to complicated and I now have a simple and elegant Christmas card. Let me know what you think.

Pizza Muffins - No it's not a Crafting post!
I made these yesterday and they turned out pretty good. I made them a little bland because I was making them for my picky kids. My husband wanted a batch with a bit more flavour. So here we go.
I got the original recipe from allrecipes.com but I changed it up a bit so I have put it on my blog for everyone who wanted the recipe I used.
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
2 cups shredded cheese, divided
1 egg beaten
1 3/4 cups buttermilk
Optional add-ins -- I added 3/4 cup turkey pepperoni and pizza sauce, other ideas are sun-dried tomatoes, onion, bell peppers, bacon, olives and whatever else you like on pizza.
Directions - Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease muffin cups, set aside
In a large bowl combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, basil and oregano. Stir until well blended. Mix in 1 1/2 cups of cheese and other add-ins.
In another bowl beat egg and mix in buttermilk, combine with dry ingredients and blend well.
Here is where I changed it a bit again. I spooned just enough batter in to each muffin cup to fill the bottom and then added a teaspoon of pizza sauce to each. I then added more batter to each cup. I then put another teaspoon of pizza sauce and some cheese and pepperoni on top of each muffin.
Bake for 15-20 minutes and enjoy!
Project Life - Video from SU.
Stampin' Up has introduced a new line of Scrapbooking supplies this year that are completely fabulous. Project Life is a great, easy and beautiful way to scrapbook. One of my favourite things about it is that even if you do not like the format of divided pages you can use all of the wonderful supplies on a standard 12x12 page! So fun. Check out this wonderful video showcasing the beautiful and simple Love Story Collection from Project Life is.

It's Here!! The 2014 Holiday Catalogue!
Fall is the best time of year for crafting! With Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner there is never a shortage of fun projects to be made. This years Stampin' Up Holiday Catalogue has so many wonderful inspiring items to get you in the mood to create!
Here are FIVE of my favourite items from this Catalogue.
Fall Fest Photopolymer Bundle - 137628 $43.25
Holiday Home Photopolymer Bundle - 137631 $39.75
Confetti Stars Punch 135861 - $29.95
Wonderous Wreath Photopolymer Bundle - 137624 $53.25
All is Calm Speciality Designer Series Paper - 135823 $15.95
Of course there are 30 or 40 other items I could put on this list but these popped out at me right away. The bundles are such a great deal and all of them are so versatile. I have many clients who love to scrapbook and create cards and these are great for both! I used the top one "Fall Fest" for my Thanksgiving Centrepiece last week as well as for next months Scrapbook Club page.
Click on the catalogue above to link to the on-line store.
Watch for my Christmas Card classes, where we will surly be using the product above to create some great cards for your friends and family.
Have a wonderful day.
Scrapbooking - Join the fun!
Do you wish you had more time for Scrapbooking? Do you have a bunch of supplies at home but you do not know what to do with them? Or maybe you are just getting started and don't know what to buy or how to make your pages look like art!
Maybe it's time to join a scrapbooking club. Once a month we meet at my house, there is great company, wonderful food and a chance for you to create a 2 page 12x12 scrapbook layout. I design the pages and supply all of the stamp sets, ink and other hardware needed to create a great keepsake for you to take home.
What is involved when you join?
- Every club one lady is named the hostess, the hostess supplies the yummy treats and gets to take advantage of all of the hostess benefits for that month.
- You may be required to bring some 12x12 card stock for the base of the page and you will be responsible for your own title, photos and journalling but ALL other supplies are included.
- Cost? That will be determined by the number of members we have. In the past with 7 or more people participating the cost was a $20 order of Stampin' Up product for you to keep and a $10 contribution to the hostess' kitty.
-- What is the Kitty?? This is a pot that everyone contributes to so that when it is your month to be hostess you get an additional sum of money to add to your hostess benefits. This way if you have been eyeing up a more expensive product like a Big Shot or Ink Pad set you can purchase it without breaking the bank!
Here is a little sneak peek from September's Scrapbook page.
Our First meeting is September 6 at 6:30 pm.
note - we do not meet in December (it is just too busy!)
Other great reasons to join.
- Every month I challenge our members to go home and re-create the scrapbook layout with their own supplies. We will share these pages at the next club and this will help you use the supplies you have or buy as well as get your creative juices flowing.
- You will meet some wonderful ladies in your community who also love to create.
- Club members get all of the catalogues for free as well as some special gifts from me!
- If you miss a meeting I will ensure you still get your pages but I encourage you to come as often as possible so you do not miss out on specials, creative ideas and camaraderie.
If you are interested please contact me ASAP by email at janetyates@shaw.ca or comment on this post. I live in the Royal Oak/Rocky Ridge area of Calgary.
MORE TO COME:
Look for my Christmas Card classes coming in November. Events are posted at the top of this page under the Events Tab.

Thanksgiving Bird House - Centrepiece
I know what you are thinking .. Thanksgiving is a long way away. It really is not. It is only about 7 weeks away here in Canada! Can you believe it!?
I spent a good part of Friday last week working on this adorable bird house for our Thanksgiving Centrepiece. Some of the stamping is from ALL NEW stamp sets in this years Holiday Catalogue.
I got the bird house at Michaels Craft Store, it was unpainted so I started with painting it in the brown/orange fall colours that you see here. Once dry I added the flower garden and roof decorations. This is where I spent most of my time but I love how it turned out so it was worth it.
The wreath and pumpkins were stamped with the Wondrous Wreath and Fall Fest Stamp sets. I added some punched out birds, embellishments such as the leaves (got to love that bird punch) and button, to finish the look.
I hope you like it.
The flowers were made using a small scallop punch, the retired boho blossom punch and the wonderful all new fringe scissors. I added leaves using the bird builder punch.
For the sunflowers I used the retired Boho blossom punch again and a 1/2" circle punch. I sponged in some colour and used my piercing tool on the center to look like seeds. "Give Thanks" is from the stamp set "Good Greetings" a hostess set and is framed in gold card stock.

The wreath is from the new "Wondrous Wreath" set but I did cut down the wreath to fit on this bird house. The original is almost double the size. A little linen thread finished the look.
This was so fun to create. I cannot wait to share it with my family at Thanksgiving.
Have a wonderful day.

I made 50 of these and they took no time at all! So fun and bright.
On another note, there is only a few days left for the 2013-2014 catalogue ... don't miss out.
