Challenge -- Freshly Made Sketches #36
I seem to need challenges to get me in my craft room these days!! Freshly Made Sketches has a great one this week and I struggled with it! I ended using a new set that will be a Hostess set in the new SU Catalogue! Four Seasons is a really cute set that is great for showcasing punches! I seem to be drawn to the Fall stamps even though it is almost Summer (I live in Canada so it is still Spring weather). The Colours I used were Early Espresso, Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Very Vanilla.
The Freshly Made Sketches Challenge can be found HERE, along with the rules and all the other wonderful samples and entries. Always great for inspiration.

Jen's Choice at Freshly Made Sketches
WOW WOW WOW ... I was chosen as a " Perfect Princess" at Freshly Made Sketches by Jen. My Mocha Morning card was picked to be one of the highlighted cards for their most recent sketch challenge! I am so excited!! Thanks to Jen and all the wonderful ladies at FMS.

Thanks for Looking.
This card was made using Mocha Morning DSP and Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon (both on the retiring list). The Cardstock is Very Vanilla and Basic Black. I used a Non Stampin up embossing folder for the vanilla strip at the bottom but you could easily use the Vintage Wallpaper folder in its place. For the tag I used a key from the retired "trinket keys" set and some linen tread. The tags are vanilla paper stamped with phrases from the "Fabulous Phrases" stamp set and punched out with the Jewellery Tag Punch.

Challenge -- The Paper Players - Polka Dots
Another Challenge that pay homage to some retiring products. The Polka Dot theme is fun and whimsical so I thought I would make a fun bright card from the 2010-2012 In Colours. I also used the retiring stamp set "Something Sweet." Keeping with the Polka Dot theme I filled my treat cup with lots and lots of Dots! Colors used were, Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, and Concord Crush. Thanks for Looking.

Sneak Peek - 2012/2013 Catalogue
Well we are just 2 short weeks away from the new Stampin' Up Catalogue and I am super excited about all the wonderful new stamp sets and DSP! My wish list is long and I will really have to think about what I am going to order in June. In the meantime I made a set of cards with a new stamp set called "Papaya Collage" as you know I like my cards to be simple and elegant and these 3 cards are totally my style. Hope you like them.
Midnight Muse (my new fav)
Gumball Green
Summer Star fruit
Primrose Petals and
Raspberry Ripple
Above: This card was scored along the bottom, it does not show up well in the photo but I scored it at every 1/8th of an inch.
To the Right: This card was cut along the top to highlight the butterfly and again I backed my Punched Tag to create a border. The stamp used in the middle was from the Four Frames set that will be in the new Caddy.
Below/Top: I included a close of this card to give you a better look at the In Colors. Again I scored the bottom at every 1/8th of an inch to create texture and I used my In Color Marks to create a fun little border under the butterflies. Did you know the SU markers have a brush end and a fine tip for journaling?
I hope you like the cards and you are as excited as I am about the new catalogue! For your copy or to place an order; contact me at janetyates@shaw.ca
Butterflies never seem to get old when it comes to paper crafting. Maybe because they can come in so many shapes, sizes and colors, or maybe because they are associated with spring and summer and who does not love the wonderful warm weather of summer!
This little cutie is no exception. Papaya Collage is a really elegant set with a bit of an antique feel to it, this is not usually my style but I really liked the bird in it. Bird you say?? Well as you can see as much as I liked the bird I ended up loving the butterfly!
Go figure (it's summer).

MDS -- Silly
Well I have some fun stuff coming to me tonight in my latest order and I will be able to post a few "sneak peek" items by Monday but until then I will show you my newest creation on MDS. Every month I have a scrapbook challenge for my clients. I give them a layout and an example and they create their own special page! Last month five of my girls took the challenge and rolled with it! I got some pretty nice pages emailed to me. Below is the page I created using my template, which I also show below. If you feel up to the challenge please email me a link to your blog to show off your work.
I have to admit I feel a little bad, I realize all of the MDS I have posted here are of my youngest daughter. I assure you I have just as many pages of my oldest daughter and will make an effort to get one of her on here too someday LOL.

Fit for a Princess
Last month was my little girls 4th Birthday! I can not believe she is 4 already!!! She had a princess themed Party and I made her a Castle Punch Art Card that I CASED from Allmeynstampin! It was a fund easy card to make and I love the look of it.
I used Wisteria Wonder for the Castle and Concord Crush for the Flowers and Trim.
TIPS -
It is impossible for me not to layer tags. I just do not like the look of a plain tag. I almost always punch out two tags in a solid coordinating colour and off set them behind the main tag. This is how I border my tag punches.
I also really like depth in a card. With punch art it is very important that you add depth or it just looks flat and plain. To do this simply use a sponge and ink pad and sponge ink in the same or similar colour of the cardstock along the edges. As you can see on the Castle door I have done this and made stand out more!
Don't forget to check out the retiring list this month and look for the new 2012-2013 Catalogue coming out on June 1.
