SU Video - Star Boxes

Good Morning!  It is Monday and normally that would be a bad thing but the snow is melted and the weather is beautiful!   Unfortunatly our city has a lot of clean up to do from all of the snow last week, so many trees were damaged is just hurts the heart to look at it!   My area was not hit too bad, our trees are small, but some areas are just awful!!

On to brighter news though...  STARS
Stampin' Up put out a video on how to make some super cute Star boxes using the Star Framelits in the Annual Catalogue.   The "Under the Tree" speciality designer series paper is perfect for these little boxes too.   Below the video you can see the ones I made using this tutorial.

I just love these boxes for decorations and with just a couple of minor changes you can turn them into treat boxes too.

Here you can see where I cut a tab down and did not add adhesive so it just tucks in.  You can add a little treat to the box, such as jelly beans and the box is not ruined when opened.  So Fun!

Let me know how your Star Boxes turned out!

Challenge -- Freshly Made Sketches # 153

It has been a long time since I have done a Challenge!  I love doing them and Sketch challenges are my favourite.  Freshly Made Sketches had a wonderful and simple sketch this week and since the weather outside is frightful I thought I would get crafting to pass the time.

I have been in the mood to make Christmas cards this week, and with the weather in Calgary you can see why!

I created this Clean and Simple card with some of my favourite items from this years Holiday Catalogue.  I hope you like it.

I used the new "All is Calm" Designer Washi Tape to create the tree and punched it out with the new SU Tree Punch.  I added some touches of silver and Lost Lagoon with paper, ink and the embellishments.  Nothing to complicated and I now have a simple and elegant Christmas card.  Let me know what you think.

Check out the other great entries and some inspiring samples at

Sneak Peek - Holiday Catalogue

In 8 days you will be able to order from this years Stampin' Up Holiday Catalogue! Let me tell you, every page of this catalogue inspires me to create some fun holiday project!   There are wonderful MDS downloads, great Project Life kits as well as other really cute card Kits.   There are a number of great bundles and some amazing stamp sets of course.

Below are just a couple of very simple cards I have created with the "White Christmas" stamp set and the All New Confetti Stars punch (OMG I LOVE IT!).

I hope you like them and I hope you are as inspired by the new Catalogue as I am!

This card was created using the "White Christmas" stamp set. I also used some of the Blendabilities markers.  I added a little glitter with some dazzling details and backed the image with Lost Lagoon Card Stock.

Sorry but the pictures of this card are a bit washed out. I used Vanilla paper as my top layer, Soft Suede and Cherry cobbler for my other layers. The "Merry" is from a now retired Framelits set that was still on the clearance rack the last time I looked.  My favourite part of this card is all the little stars!   These were made with the new "Confetti Stars Punch" in the Holiday Catalogue.   I love this punch. I used champagne glitter paper to punch out the stars and gold and cherry cobbler paper for the "merry".

They were two quick and simple cards and I hope to have more to show you later this week.

Thank you for looking.

It's a Tim Hortons Christmas

Well only 3 more sleeps until Christmas and we are ready!!  Food, presents, baking all done!  Visiting and fun on the agenda for the next 3 days!   I am very excited for Christmas this year, mainly because I got a few things for my Husband that I think he will love and I can not wait to see his reaction!

One of the presents is a gift that keeps on giving!  Tim Horton's Forever!

I bought a gift card and fixed it so it will reload automatically.   He will never run out of his favourite coffee!

Of course I had to package it just right so I used the "Perfect Blend" set from Stampin' Up and made this adorable gift card holder.

I used Tim Horton's colours, Real Red, Chocolate Chip and Vanilla.  I punched out the Logo from some packaging the Gift Card came in.
Inside I used the word window punch to make a slot for the gift card. I stamped the sentiment with "Yippee Skippee" , "Perfect Blend" and "Fabulous Phrases."

I cannot wait to give this gift!

Just in case I do not get another post out before Christmas, I wish all of my followers a safe, happy, fun-filled and joyous Christmas and Holiday Season.

It's a Pinterest Christmas

This year when I found myself stuck for ideas for my Christmas Cards I quickly turned to the one site that has ideas for everything!  Truly, everything is on Pinterest!  You could spend hours lost in the pins, boards and links.  The two cards below were inspired by Pinterest.

Cardstock - Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Vanilla.
Ink - Espresso, Soft Suede
Accessories - Cobbler Ribbon, 1 1/4" circle scallop punch, paper snips, crystal effects.
Stamp Sets - Petite Pairs, Joyful Christmas

Cardstock - Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red, Silver Glimmer Paper
Accessories - Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder, Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder (r), 3/4" circle punch, 1 1/4" Square Punch, 1" Square Punch and Apothecary Accents Framelits.

I really liked these two as they are both simple and very different. I also love the textures.   Let me know what you think!

Christmas Village of Cuteness -- December News

Before I get to how I made my Christmas Village of Cuteness I just want to mention that at the bottom of this post are the New Weekly Specials, the December (and final) "Best of" Stamp Set and a quick little message you will not want to miss!!

Now on to my Christmas Village of Cuteness ....

In 2011 I went to the Stampin' UP Convention with my friend and Up line Amber.   For a Make and Take at the convention they had us make a "Village of Cuteness."   Essentially it was 3 pieces of 2x4 cut to look like little houses.  We painted them and decorated them.   That fall I made a Halloween Set and had great intentions of making a Christmas Set.  With the help of Ambers Husband (who cut more houses) I finally made a Christmas Set!

I am so happy with how they turned out!
Red House - on this house I used a little wooden business card and painted it green, behind it I added some Espresso Card Stock.  The Roof is Early Espresso Core'dinations Paper that has been embossed with the Wood-grain Embossing Folder. The Icicles are made with Crystal Effects and Dazzling Details.  I finished it off with a Frosted Finishes embellishment, antique brad and retired felt holly.

Green House - Here I cut the wooden business card in half and created a double door with some retired brads as door knobs.  The Roof is chipboard covered in retired DSP.  I used some more retired felt (this time the mittens). For the sign on the house
I used a Framelit from the Chalk Talk set and cut out a piece in Sliver and Red Glimmer paper and one from the wooden business cards.   I got the sentiment from the "Christmas Messages" stamp set.

Brown House - For this house I punched out each scalloped layer of DSP for the roof.  It took a long time but I love the effect.  I added the last two pieces of felt from the retired set and added rhinestones for sparkle. Again the door is a wooden business card (I got them at Lee Valley) and added another antique brad for the door handle and two other brads for the hinges.
Above you can see the detail of the roof a little better.

For all of the houses I used acrylic paint and applied it lightly so you could still see the detail of the wood grain.  I also added Mica Flakes (retired) to the bottom of each home.

These were so fun to make.  Let me know what you think of the final product.

Festive Flurry

This year in the Holiday Catalogue there is a Stamp Set and Framelits Bundle called "Festive Flurry"  it is by far my favourite item from the Holiday Catalogue.  Back in August when I first received this bundle I decided to create a card that goes that extra mile and adds some beauty to your tree as well.   I wanted a card that would give off that wow factor but would also be a great gift.  So I created a card with a detachable ornament.

The silver foil paper from SU adds great shine to this ornament and those completely adorable "frosted finishes embellishments" are just perfect.

It just so happens that Stampin' Up came out with a really wonderful kit to create ornaments similar to the one above and they are available  now "while supplies last."

Festive Flurry Ornament Kit   135813   $17.95

You could easily add these to a card or gift to make it extra special.

I still think you can not go wrong with the Festive Flurry Bundle though.   See the banner at the top of my blog, yes, that's right, I used it there too!  In fact I have used this bundle more in the past 3 months than any other Framelit bundle.
 I love it!
