Box Cards ... They are all the rage!

Have you seen the Box Card!?  If not I would be shocked.  These great, fun and cute cards are all over Pinterest and Crafting blogs right now.   The ideas for these are endless and they fold up and fit in a envelope!  Love it!

I saw a similar card to this on Pinterest and when one of my friends and clients had her baby last month I could not resist Casing it!   Zoo Babies is one of my favourite stamp sets and a perfect fit for this card!
I used the I am Me DSP for it's fun, bright colours.
To finish off the card you add a panel on the back for your sentiments and such.   Below is a link to a tutorial and video I found from Angie at Chic n' Scratch!   These are so fun, I even made another for an upcoming club!

cardinabox_b  Check it out and then have fun creating!

Here is a peek at the Mothers Day Card I made for an upcoming club.

Rainbows and Stars

Wow, it's been a little while since I have posted. So sorry.   I have been busy crafting.  In fact I have a card class tomorrow and I am super excited to show you the cards we are making over the next little bit.  Below is a sneak peek of tomorrows class.  I was inspired by a similar card I saw on Pinterest.   I just love colourful cards and this card is super bright and fun, not to mention has some great bling!

I used an old retired stamp for the background.  "Extreme Elements" is still one of my favourites.  Hint -- Stamp the Yellow stamp, then the top and bottom stamps (Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise) and finally the Wild Wasabi and Pumpkin Pie.

The sentiment is from "A Dozen Thoughts" stamp set, which is a current set in the Annual Catalogue.   The Star Punch and Rhinestones are also current also.
The card I saw on Pinterest used the all new "Happy Watercolour" stamp set from the current Occasions Catalogue.

 133191  $26.95 CAD

I hope you like the card, let me know what you think!

Pretty Petals!

The new Catalogue includes a great new punch/stamp set bundle called "Petite Petals!"   With all of this winter weather I feel like this little set brings spring into your home.   Below is a birthday card I made using this set.  I used some retired products I have had hanging around my craft room.

When I saw these little flowers they screamed "Chalks" to me.  I used versamark to stamp the flowers and then used chalks and rubbed them over the stamped images.  I love this technique, it is colourful, fun and easy.  I used Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White Card Stock.  There is a great, bright, Spring feel to this card and it has been so snowy out that I just want to remember that sunny days are just around the corner.

Below is the Stamp Set and punch that is available now in the Occasions Catalogue.

Valentine - The Paper Players Challenge #179

The Paper Players Challenge #179, a single layer Valentine's Challenge.

I like simple cards.  This is no secret. I love all of the entries in this challenge and could easily CASE them! They are amazing.  I wanted to try something I don't do often.  I join challenges to be challenged so I wanted to create something simple but out of my comfort zone.

I used masking  and spritzers to create this card.   Real Red and Smoky Slate ink were used to create the heart and "love"  I added a glittery "u" and some bling for a small amount of embellishments.    I hope you like it!

Check out all of the great entries and samples for this challenge.

Eye-Catching "Hey There"

As a follow up to my last post I wanted to show you another card using the Photopolymer Stamp Set "Eye-Catching Ikat."  This set is visually  interesting while being simple and inexpensive.   The possibilities are endless.

I used Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive ink for the pattern.  The Bakers Twine is Pear Pizazz.

I used the "Just Sayin'" Set for the sentiment and those wonderful new Word Bubble Framelits.  "Hey There" is stamped in Chocolate Chip.

Simple, gender neutral, and fun.  Everything I like in a card!

Eye-Catching Photopolymer 134624  $16.95

Expect to see more of this set from me.  It is so easy to use and the ideas are endless.

Eye-Catching in Purple

Hello all.   I know, it has been awhile!  I had full intentions of getting this post out on Monday night but I started a new book.  I just finished it and I am back to reality!  I read "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn.   Have you read this book? If you have you know what I mean when I say AHHHHHH!  If you have not, you should, if for no other reason than to see what all the fuss is about because believe me there is fuss!  (You could wait for the Ben Affleck movie but I would recommend reading the book first)

Have you ever watched a movie that was so intense and so frustrating you got up and yelled at the screen?!  This book was like that for me.   I still don't know if I liked it, well ok that is not entirely true. I did like it, in that way one might like a roller-coaster.  You feel ill all day but totally worth the ride.  This book is an absolute roller-coaster.    So that is why I am a little behind on my posts.

Well, back to my post.

I got my hands on one of Stampin' Up's new photopolymer stamp sets "Eye-Catching Ikat."  It is unique and fun with endless possibilities for both card making and scrap-booking.   I made this little gender-neutral card for just about any occasion.

I used three shades of purple, Whisteria Wonder,  Perfect Plum, and Elegant Eggplant.  I used all three for both my ink and card stock.  I really like the combination of different shapes and designs.

Circles and Chevron collide.

To finish off the card I added a little "woo-hoo" word bubble from the "Just Sayin'" Stamp set.

It was a very easy card that only took minutes!  This may be a new go-to stamp set for me.

Let me know what you think, about the card (or the book).  I would love to hear from you.

All New Occasions Catalogue ....

Arriving today is the all new Occasions Catalogue, it is full of fun products and ideas for Birthdays, Easter, Valentines and much much more!

Yesterday my Facebook followers got to see my first project with a great new Stamp Set from this Catalogue, not to mention the Sale-a-Bration Sneak Peek.  Today I want to show you an amazing kit in the new Catalogue that I finished this afternoon.

On Page 21 in the corner is this great kit called "Burlap and Blooms Simply Created wreath Kit" as soon as I saw it I wanted to create it.

You get everything you see here to create this wreath.  All you need is a glue gun!
I switched up the brads for some others (retired rhinestone brads) but otherwise kept to the script.  It took me maybe 2 hours.
I love the result.  It is so fun, and makes me think of spring.  We got 5cm of Snow today so a little spring is more than welcome.
Let me know what you think!
For those of you who do not follow me on Facebook (why not!!!).   Below is the card I posted the other day.
The card was created with a new Stamp Set called "Big Wish" and a few "sneak peek" items from the upcoming Sale-a-Bration!  Ink used was Crisp Cantaloupe,  Summer Starfruit, Pool Party and Pistachio Pudding.
I also used Pistachio Pudding and Whisper White Card Stock.  The background was created using the "Gorgeous Grunge" Stamp Set.

I would love to hear what you think.   What is your favourite new item from the Occasions Catalogue?

Warm Wishes - Snow Day

First I want to start by saying I am sorry I have been away so long.  The days are getting away from me and even though I have loads of projects piling up I just cannot seem to get it together and get some posts done.  So here we go, the first of many I hope over the next few weeks.

Have you seen the "Snow Day"  stamp set from the Stampin' Up Holiday Catalogue?  It is absolutely adorable!!   I just love this little snowman!

I wish I could be as happy to see the snow as this little guy!!  I used Pool Party, Island Indigo and Night of Navy to create the sky. I sponged the colours in to blend them together.   Our fun little Snowman is stamped in Smoky Slate (he was inked up and stamped off once before being stamped on the card).

I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to make snow with white embossing powder.

I promise to pull out my photo box this week and take some pictures of my other projects!   There is more to come.   In the meantime, stay warm!

Please don't forget that Stampin' UP is having some great deals on now...

Tag 4 You Gift Set

We are one week away to Thanksgiving here in Canada and I will be visiting family and having fun!  I am really looking forward to it.  One great thing about going to my family's home for Thanksgiving is that I do not have to cook.
If there was one thing I wish I was better at it would be cooking (exercise would be a close second LOL) so you can imagine how intimidating a Family dinner like Thanksgiving would be for me.  Call the caterer!  But this year I am going to my Mother-in-laws so I am get to stick to what I am good at.  Thank you gifts!

I have made this fun little gift set with the Tags 4 You Stamp Set and punch.

I made the box with Crumb Cake Card Stock and Window Sheet.  I then used the Burlap Ribbon to wrap it in and added one of my favourite Stamped Images from the Truly Grateful Stamp Set.  So simple and fun.

Inside the gift set I placed 4 note cards with a simple stamped background image, 2 in gold and 2 in silver.  I also added 4 crumb cake envelopes with envelope liners stamped in the same colours and background image.

The background image I used was one from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and the Ink and Liner Framelits are from the Holiday Catalogue.

This little card of labels is the fun part of the gift set.  I saw this great idea at Convention.  I attached a dimentional to each of the punched labels.  I then glued the dimentional down to the sheet without removing the paper backing.  This way the label can be removed from the card with the dimentional still intact and added to the blank note cards.

Here is another simple Idea using the same card of Gift Tags.   I created these two cards using Washi Tape and inside each card there will be some labels that can be added to any gift or card.  These are so fun for teachers or neighbours.

With all the Great Stamp/Punch Sets the possibilities are endless.

The Stamp Set is "Truly Grateful" and I love it!

For this card I used Very Vanilla as my base and the top layer.  I also used Pumpkin Pie Card Stock as a layer.   The stamp sets used are Gorgeous Grunge and of course Truly Grateful.  Ink was Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight.
For embellishments I used Witches Brew Washi Tape and a small 7/8" scallop circle punch and 3/4" circle punch with a little "U" from Around Array Stamp Set.  I backed the circle with Early Espresso.
The Sentiment is stamped on the tape in Staz On.

Well I hope you like this card!  It was super fun to make.

Baby's Cards - You always need one more!

My kids are now 5 and 8 and I am done having babies. Most of my friends are done having babies and my Husband and I are the youngest in our families, therefore, no more nieces or nephews for us!  I think!!

It seems however I am always in need of just one more baby card!  A family friend of mine just had a little boy (in fact I used to babysit her when she was 3!  I am feeling a little old!) and another Stampin' Friend is due in November.  So as I said there is always need for another baby card.

When I surf Pinterest I pin a lot of baby cards that catch my eye, I then proceed to forget about them and when I need a baby card I am rushing to get one made.

Not this time!   I saw a Digital Studio card on Pinterest with this little Fisher Price toy on it and thought I could create that with my Word Window punch!   I literally shut my computer, walked into my craft room and went to work!  I love it when that happens.  And I really love how this turned out!

Let me know what you think.

I used the standard Primary Colours for this card, Real Red, Pacific Blue, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie.  I did Clear Emboss the punched pieces to make them look more plastic and I really like how the effect worked.   The Paper I used for the toy is last years Brights Pack DSP.

The Sentiment at the bottom is a combination of about 5 or 6 sets.   I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to make it look like word art.  This will be for a boy but it could have just as easily been made for a little girl.

Well I guess it is time to get back to Pinterest.  I need more ideas like this!

Thanks for looking!

WORST CARD EVER .. Ok maybe Not!!

A couple of days ago I got inspired to try a fishbowl card with actual water. I have seen a couple of these and thought "How hard could that be?"  AHH, famous last words!!

I gathered my tools; a hot glue gun, window sheet, treat cup(s) and of course my cute little stamp!

I stamped my image on Whisper White and coloured it with my Copic Markers, yes I am one of those people who loves my copics, but more on that later.  Once I had the cute little fish bowl ready I plugged in my hot glue gun and cut out a 2 3/4" square window sheet to fit on the back of my treat cup.
The idea was that I fill the cup with water and few sparkles, spread hot glue around the edge and attach my window sheet getting a great watertight seal!  Easy right?  Yeah NO!

Here is a picture of my first couple of tries!

So I think the first time the glue was not hot enough, the second time I was not fast enough and that third try I used white glue, yeah, don't do that!  It does not work, at all!

So I forgot to take a picture of my final cup but it looks very much like the top picture, maybe a little neater but not much. I hid the monstrous mess below some pretty DSP and Cardstock!

In the end I got a really great card and I learned that hot glue is not my friend.  I was never very crafty until I got hooked on Stampin' UP, for just this reason!  If only SU made "watertight seal adhesive" :)

Here it is, the card that caused me to run next door cursing and smiling at the same time.
I always vent to my wonderful neighbour!

On with the details of the card.  When I finally got a workable fishbowl I had to come up with a super cute card that would show off my creation!  In the end I wanted something simple that would highlight the fishbowl and not detract from it.

I used a white base with layers of Rich Razzelberry, Pumpkin Pie, more White and a Tempting Turquoise DSP on the top.  I added some Pumpkin Pie Candy Dots and a white banner with my sentiment.

I used a lot of Dimentionals to allow for the thickness of my treat cup (with all that glue), I had to double up.   I stamped the fishbowl on the Turquoise DSP and punched out a 1 3/8 circle to allow the treat cup to come through.

Now I mentioned my Copics earlier and I have never mentioned them before so here is my confession.  Stampin' Up used to have a policy about using Non-Stampin Up products and as a Demo I could not promote them on my blog.  I kept them in my craft room, hidden from view and only pulled them out for my own use and for fun.  They are so fun to colour with and face it your inner child wants to colour, its a great stress reliever too!

Copics are alcohol based and they blend and colour so beautifully.  I wanted my fish to really pop.  The colours were so vibrant that I used them on the sentiment too!

Ok so my worst card ever turned out to be super cute and I cannot wait to give it to someone!

Thanks for looking and please let me know what you think!
