Back to School Surprise

I bought some of those little hand sanitizers for my daughter to take in her backpack so when I was thinking about a special treat for her on her first day I thought I would create a little 3x3 card and box for the hand sanitizer.   This is what I came up with ...

The dimensions for the little box are as follows ...

Card Stock 4 3/4 x 7 5/8

On long side score at 3 1/4 and 4 3/8 (sorry there is a pencil mark in the diagram below that has no meaning so please ignore it!)

On the short side score at  1/2, 1 5/8,  3/18,  and 4 1/4.

Cut out the excess flaps and pieces as shown below (top side is cut out already and the bottom side is shaded.)

You can put a window in using framelits (unfortunately I do not have many of the SU framelits yet so I used a Non SU one).  I think the Apothecary Accents Framelits have one or two that would work or the bitty banners, as well as the Lots of Tags Sizzlits.  I added a window sheet on the inside too.

The lid is 2 x 1 5/8 scored on all sides at 1/4.  I cut two tabs to glue to the flaps to make the front and cut off the other two tabs and glued the back piece into the original box.

I hope that is clear! Please email me if you have any questions.

This card is a 3x3 and I used the wonderful Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set and the Cannery Set Framelits!  So much easier than cutting!!

The colours used are Gumball Green, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black and Whisper White
Inside the card I used the Family Reunion Stamp Set.

So here in Calgary Back to School is Tuesday morning and I have to say part of me is excited about getting the kids back to school but I am not looking forward to all of the running around this year!!  Hope you are enjoying the Back to School Season!

Back to School with some Blast from the Past

Well I have been busy getting ready to  back to school and thinking about my Christmas Card class so I have not made any back to school items but here are a couple of things from previous years to get you in the "Back to School" mood.

This great little School Bus is cased from Heather Summers!  I gave it to Jillian's First School bus driver a couple of years ago.

This is a post it note holder easel card.  I cannot take credit for the idea but I cannot remember where I saw it.  I am sure it was on Splitcoast Stampers. I love the punch art in both of these cards.  Once Jillian gets her teacher assignment I may have to make another for her new teacher!

Well I have a couple of ideas for the first day of school and will post those soon (if I can get them done LOL).   Hope you are enjoying these last days of summer.  Take Care.

Challenge -- Freshly Made Sketches #49

I have been playing with some 3-D flowers that I saw on Stampin' Pretty's Facebook Page and when I saw the sketch for this week on FMS I thought I would incorporate them.  This is what I came up with...

I used Crumb Cake, Raspberry Ripple and Early Espresso Card Stock and Ink for this card.
I used the  new 1 1/4" Scallop Circle Punch to create the 3D flowers and the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  I did Shimmer the entire card and add Sparkle to the flowers with Dazzling Details.

Spidey Sense

There is a little boy I know who just turned 7 and I wanted to make a card for him that he would love!  He just saw the new Spiderman movie so I thought I would try a card I had seen on a video from Pinterest (I will put the video on the bottom of this post).  I did not have the Stampin Up Spider web Embossing Folder unfortunately so that made it more difficult but I made due with the old one I had.

As you can see using the Embossing Folder to create the spider web and covering the raised sections in black ink.  The video below gives you a how to on the cutting of the eyes (I am not as accomplished as she is but I think they look ok.)

The SU Embossing Folder has the web centered and makes for a better card but I think I did ok with what I have.
I used Real Red, Pacific Point, Basic Black and White.

Moving is an Adventure

A friend of mine just moved to her new home and I wanted to make a fun and different kind of card to celebrate!  I thought about moving as an adventure and came up with this fun card.

If you have seen UP! from Pixar then you will know "Adventure is Out There" is a line from that movie. I printed it on my computer on to Vanilla card stock.  I punched it out and layered it.  The balloons were punched with a non-Stampin' Up punch (I was in a rush) and I shimmered them,  and the house was made using the square punch. I stamped the clouds with the top of a cupcake from the "Create a Cupcake" Set in Bashful Blue.  Pool Party Bakers Twine for the Balloons and some birds from the Up, Up and Away set to finish off the look.

Have a wonderful day.
